2025.08 A quasquicentennial monthly global precip product, 1900-present In support of the GPCP-v4 project and in response to the need for a routinely and rapidly updated interpolated gauge-based global gridded precipitation data set, The Climate Hazards Center (CHC) and collaborators are producing version 1 of the Climate Hazards Global Precipitation from Stations (CHGPS) dataset. The global 0.05° monthly product will combine the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre 2022 0.25° 'full' gridded product (GPCC Full 2022) with Climate Hazards Precipitation with Stations (CHPS). CHPS is an IMERG-enhanced 0.05° climatology and the routinely updated and curated CHC station archive. GPCC and CHPS are combined, based on weights derived from the expected correlation with the nearest CHC and GPCC stations along with station densities. Between 1900 and 2020 (the last year of the GPCC Full 2022 archive), the gridded CHC station data and GPCC are combined. After 2020 The CHPS continues the CHGPS time series. CHGPS is an operational product available at: https://data.chc.ucsb.edu/experimental/CHGPS/v1/ They may also be visualized in the CHC Early Warning eXplorer (EWX), https://ewx3.chc.ucsb.edu/ewx/index.html. questions pete peterson pete@geog.ucsb.edu
